Primary Election - Tuesday September 8, 8am-7pm

The State Primary elections will be conducted at the Townhouse from 8:00 am until 7:00 pm on Tuesday September 8, 2020. Thank you to voters who have gone through the absentee ballot process and returned your ballot. Absentee ballots sent to you by the Town Clerk can be returned to the Townhouse up to 5:00 pm on election day.  According to RSA 657:17(d), 657:22, and 659:47, these ballots cannot be accepted after 5:00 pm.

If you are a registered voter and wish to vote on election day and you but do not want to enter the polling place, you can do so as a same-day absentee under RSA 659:20-a. Please inform the greeter at the School House entrance; he will contact an election official who will provide you with the absentee ballot package. When you have completed the ballot package according to the instructions, the election official will bring it in to the polling place to be processed with the other absentee ballots. These ballots will be accepted until 7:00 pm.

In the effort to keep voters and election workers safe during the Coronavirus pandemic, we are taking a number of precautions at the polling place for those of you who wish to cast your vote at the polls:

 - Hand sanitizer will be provided. Based on recommendations from the State Epidemiologist, we request you use the hand sanitizer when you enter the building, when you leave the building, before and after handling the ballot, and before and after touching your face or face covering;

 - Voters should stay six feet apart from voters not in your family group while entering and waiting and six feet away from election workers.  There will be markings and delineations on walking surfaces to follow;

 - You will be given a pencil for filling out the ballot - please take it with you after you complete your ballot;

 - You will be given a mat to set your ballot on while completing the ballot - please take it with you and dispose of it after turning in your ballot;

 - Surfaces will be disinfected on a regular basis throughout the day;

 - Undeclared voters will be given a Return to Undeclared status form when they check in. Please drop it off in the bin designated for the Return to Undeclared status forms as you exit;

 - Recognizing that voting day is a great opportunity to catch up with other members of our community, we ask that you not to linger in the Townhouse or School House and to enter and leave as quickly as possible.  If you wish to visit, we welcome you to do so outside the building; and

 - We respectfully request that you wear a face covering over your nose and mouth when you are in the Townhouse and Schoolhouse on election day. If you do not have one, we will provide you with a mask to wear. If you do not want to wear a face covering, we request that you use the same-day absentee ballot as described above. We ask that you wear a face covering not only to reduce the risk of the spread of the virus in our community but out of respect for the other voters and the election workers who have volunteered to serve their community on election day and are taking additional risk to do so. You may not wear a mask in public normally but we would be very grateful to you if you would wear one while you are at the polls.

If you are unwilling or unable to wear a face covering, do not want to fill out an absentee ballot on site, and still wish to vote in the polling place, we will accommodate you.

The size and layout of the buildings, the pattern of entry and exit, accessibility requirements, and the availability of election volunteers were challenges to providing a safe voting space. We hope that the process we have established will allow everyone participating to be able to vote and vote safely.

These are very challenging and frustrating times. Even during these times, it is important that we don't let ourselves be deterred from taking this opportunity to elect our state’s leaders and, working together, to do so safely.

Looking forward to a successful election day.

Sincerely,
