Holland Map of Middletown (Brookfield)

Considered one of the earliest maps of New Hampshire, Holland worked for many years on this map, which was published in 1784. This map, depicting the town of Middleton, shows the Moose Mountain Range crossing the middle of the town, separating the south division from the northern, or second, division. It is the second division that was to become the town of Brookfield in 1794. At the time this map was drawn, Samuel Holland shows ten house structures along the Governor’s Road in the second division.
