Request from Janet Murfey:
Selectmen requested that the planning board create a
zoning amendment that would regulate activities with
paid admission at the Tumbledown Barn or any other venue
in town that can meet the requirements set forth in such
an amendment. Many of the residents of
Brookfield
are interested in having these concerts continue, and
the feeling of the selectmen is that the Special Event
Permit was only a temporary procedure in place until an
amendment could be submitted for voter approval.
Because the deadlines for filing changes for the March
2008 Town Meeting have passed, the board of selectmen
propose to hold a special Town Meeting this spring at
such a time as all submission and public hearing
deadlines can be met. I therefore request that
discussion of such an amendment be given high priority
on the agenda of the Jan.28th meeting.
